how much energy can we really save by borrowing items? : Eco Answers

You may know that I am always on the
search for excellent articles on
Alternative Energy Sources. Today, I
discovered a very
good article that talks over Eco Energy Sources from a different
perspective. Today’s new post is titled how much energy can we really save by borrowing items? .
Question by Samantha: how much energy can we really save by borrowing items?
i’ve seen it recommended to buy used or borrow an item to save money and energy, but are we really saving “energy” and the planet when we borrow things rather than buying? how can that energy savings be estimated? How much energy do you think we can really save? im thinking about what kinds of things to borrow or let be borrowed at closestcloset but im not sure what types of things id really be helping with.

It does help GREATLY. The more people demand new products the more those products have to be refined and made…thus using more energy. For example buying used leather shoes saves more energy than the average household uses in a day, buying a used silk dress saves 95% of the CO2 needed to make a new one, and buying a used clutch/purse saves as much energy as not watching TV for 3 days straight. So if you ask me…that is A LOT of energy you can save by buying used clothes…silk, leather, cotton, etc.

  1. I absolutely LOVE buying used stuff, mostly from places like Value Village. I love the adventure of it and the thrill of amazing finds. And it saves the planet while having fun... how good is that!
