Non-Traditional Green Energy Businesses : Eco Articles

Ok I am non stop on the
watch for excellent articles on
Alternative Energy Sources. This morning, I
ran into a very
sweet piece of content that talks
about Eco Energy Sources from a new
point of view. Today’s piece of content is titled Non-Traditional Green Energy Businesses .

Article by Sam Weller

Green energy and green industries have become very prominent in recent years with some industries leaping ahead of others in green terms, however there are a number of industries that have done surprisingly well in the green area and adopted the environmental agenda.

IT

IT is far from the original form of green industry, however it has really come of age with many IT companies looking to save on business gas and other energy with the use of some state of the art technologies.

Methods such as server virtualisation, which means companies can use far fewer servers with more computers and so use less power has become a very popular in the green business area for IT. Desktop energy management also allows for a lot greater use of energy and ensures PCs are turned off within short periods of no use, meaning that people don’t use energy when computers are in hibernation. This is known to have reduced one UK company’s costs significantly in recent times.

Desktop energy management cuts down by 75 per cent the amount of energy wasted from unutilised computers. This aforementioned UK company saved 36,000kWh of business electricity and business gas in a month through the deployment of this system – a saving of around 76 tonnes of coal on 3,000 desktops. Currently IT is a significant player in the world’s energy usage, taking up around 3 per cent of all power, so such systems are welcome.

Green Consultancy

Green consultancy is an industry, which is greener than most – essentially as it has to be to remain at the top of the market. Each individual consultant must offer as many high powered green solutions as possible to ensure they manage to keep their business. This is what makes them extremely green.

Green consultancy looks at everything from business energy and business gas usage, with replacement with green energy to more out of the way services. Green services such as green consultancy offer as many solutions as exist and enable companies to cut costs and become green and so are one of the biggest green industries themselves as they save a large amount of energy for other business.

Bio Fuel

Bio fuel is also a very prominent green industry and is making leaps and bounds at the moment. Fuels formulated from crops such as rape seed are created into fuel which is used to power cars. Recent advances in technology have seen this industries popularity soar and it play an increasingly prominent position in the green agenda as it offers savings on everything from business gas to petrol, which due to rising costs of fossil fuels is very welcome. There has been large interest in this form of fuel from the Chinese economy, who are expected to invest heavily in its development and push the idea forward towards the mainstream.

All of the above are industries growing greener or green industries, becoming greener and should be closely watched.
