where do all these “powers” of water/fire/earth/wind/lightning usied in many movies, series, stories, books and anime come from? do they come from japanese miths? if yes is there any like to the real miths/legends?
where can I find real japanese miths/legends that people have some sort of power?

Before people understood atoms or molecules, people believed that everything was made up of ether Earth, Wind, Fire, or Water. Those were the 4 elements. I never heard of it being just an Asian belief though.
