Can somebody explain this statement: "Increase conservation is the cheapest new energy source."? : Eco Answers

As you know I am constantly on the
lookout for good info on
Alternative Energy Sources. This evening, I
came across a really
excellent article that talks
about Eco Energy Sources from a different
perspective. Today’s find is titled Can somebody explain this statement: “Increase conservation is the cheapest new energy source.”? .
Question by : Can somebody explain this statement: “Increase conservation is the cheapest new energy source.”?
I have some thoughts but I’m not sure if I’m right. Thanks in advance.

Increased conservation means less energy is used to begin with, so you have more energy remaining for other uses.

We waste so much energy just by our habits. Almost everyone wastes some energy whether they mean to or not. So imagine if every person conserved a little more energy than they presently use, then the left over energy would add up to a lot of energy.
