The Pew study reported jobs in U.S. clean-energy sector grew by 9.1 percent between 1998 and 2007, where as the nation’s overall job growth was only 3.7 percent during the same period. With such booming expansions, the clean-energy, especially energy efficiency markets, are a secure gamble for anyone looking to join in.
“Texas is a leader in the clean-energy economy and a strong national performer,” said Kil Huh, leader of the Pew study, in an interview with Austin American-Statesman. “The state’s clean-energy economy is poised for incredible growth.”
Texas Congressional Representatives Rafael Anchia and Mark Strama have spoken about the need for increased energy efficiency measures and for increasing the amount of green jobs. One bill, proposed by Representative Anchia, included addendum’s that would establish energy efficiency standards for major appliances, including pool pumps, bottle-type water dispensers, and portable hot tubs. With such strong support and apparent need, the energy efficiency market in Texas is and will be in need of certified energy auditors.
