Solar heating collector becomes reflector when too hot. Amazing prototype! : Eco Videos

I am always on the
watch for quality articles on
Alternative Energy Sources. This morning, I
come across a really
excellent piece of content that discusses Eco Energy Sources from a new
point of view. Today’s amazing post is titled Solar heating collector becomes reflector when too hot. Amazing prototype! .

Solar panels innovation. Will a performance revolution in solar water heating panels happen in the next few years? Technology news of a solar product development report – new non-boiling solar thermal collectors which absorb solar radiation and which heat domestic hot water efficiently up to about 80C (176F) but which switch off and reflect the sun when the water is actually hot enough. Since 2006 Solartwin have been working on small prototype “thermal step change” thermochromic solar heater collectors which cannot boil. Left in the sun, most solar collectors reach 150C or more. Now full size thermotropic panels are being tested. The mission is to fit ten times more solar collectors than normal to an existing water store and to save more energy and carbon than ever before. All while avoiding the normal high risks of boiling. At the date of upload (2009) the chance of delivering a commercial success from this prototype solar innovation is estimated at 30-4 0%.
